Recognising the awesome in Petersfield!
Celebrating our local heroes and businesses of Petersfield in 2023, Petersfield Community Events are back with the event which allows us to celebrate everything and everyone awesome in Petersfield.
YOU have decided on who to nominate, the independent panel of judges will now decide on the shortlists based on those nominations and then you once again decide on who wins these prestigious awards with ALL CATEGORIES open to a public vote! The nomination stage has happened, the independent panel of judges have deliberated and decided on the short lists for all categories and ALL CATEGORIES are open to a public vote for YOU to decide the winners.
The live awards ceremony evening will be held at Churcher's College on Friday 20th October when all winners will be announced.
HOW DO THE PETERSFIELD AWARDS WORK?

We ask members of the public to nominate their favourite businesses for each of the 20 categories, giving their reasons for nominating.

In early August, a panel of judges go through every nomination and decide the final 4 shortlists for each category.

From September until mid October, members of the public can vote for their winner for each of the 20 categories - these votes decide the winners!

Has recently been managing a rental property for me and has done an excellent job, taking away all stress or worry when I didn't know how to go about getting a tenant and managing it ongoing.

No other agent gives the phenomenal all round service that Homes do, they are brilliant.

Great customer service but also seriously generous to local organisations and charities.

Classy, artistic cafe. Has such a chilled yet sophisticated vibe and the cakes are amazing.
GINGER'S
Gingers is located IN a bookshop! It's the perfect combo! Not only do they serve great coffee they also make fabulous food! The owner and staff are all very friendly and service is always great!
MADELEINE'S KITCHEN
This is the best spot for a coffee with a real twist: great food, pottery, and gift ideas, this is more than just a coffee shop. It's an experience.
THE NATURAL FOOD DELI
They offer such a great choice of plant based food, so delicious! Plus amazing smoothies!

AISA FRASER
Aisa has set up Saving Lives, a charity raising funds and awareness for more defibrillators to be put in public places. After losing two friends to heart attacks, she took on the challenge and is doing great things.
HELENA CUNNINGHAM
For continuing to overcome anxiety and depression at such a young age, completing 6 belt grades in a year and winning a gold medal at Regional Championships.
LEON JENKINS
Being Hampshire youngest Sexton. A cemetery sexton is in charge of the cemetery, helping to coordinate care of the cemetery and manage the legal and public record aspects of burials.
LIZ GREVILLE
Liz has managed to open a new business to work alongside her shop offering a full beauty and well being treatment. Liz has been battling breast cancer and whilst fighting on through chemo she has always maintained her warm smile. She is so kind.

HALF MOON MUSIC FESTIVAL
Not only is it a great showcase of local music but an excellent fundraiser for local charities. It's a lot of work to organise, but so much fun!
PECAN ECO FAIR
A well organised and successful event, showcasing a number of fabulous local businesses trying to ensure a greener outcome for our planet. The event had a great variety of stall holders and businesses as well as entertainment and information.
PETERSFIELD FESTIVALS
I just feel so lucky to live in a town that hosts such a fantastic free event. Brings the community together. The bank holiday event was a sea of happy faces and just had such a feel good feeling all weekend.
RMW'S CHARITY CHRISTMAS TRACTOR RUN
Amazing colourful sight of so many tractors, through our local villages, all with Christmas lights & decorations, raising money for Air ambulance.

DAVID RAY (THE POSTMAN)
Dave has just retired but I’ve never met such a wonderful cheerful soul as Dave - come rain or shine - always there with a smile ! Made me feel so welcome when I moved in and we will all miss Dave so much !
DOUG NEWBIGGIN
Doug quietly goes about making positive pathways around the town with his regular volunteer work. His friendly but reserved demeanour and impressive professional background serve Dougie well and he is a credit to our town!
JOFF LACEY
Joff Lacey is a well known member of the local community who participates in numerous local theatre shows and is co-anchor of (and a driving force behind) Petersfield Shine Radio. Joff is a brightening presence within the town.
LORRAINE BIRD
Lorraine is a talented knitter who has knitted many post box toppers for the post box in Dragon Street. Her colourful creations make many people smile and she is well known for her efforts. She deserves recognition for contributing to making our community a better place.

The best salon I have ever been to, and oh I’ve been to a few. The welcome here is fabulous and the skill and care taken by the staff every time. It’s an absolute gem with the most fabulous team.

The most professional and personal service with the loveliest people there, it’s such a joy as soon as you walk through the door and you know it’s a trusting, great service.

For its use of sustainable resources in the café, but also sale of sustainable toys and clothing, always buying local and supporting smaller businesses.

Brilliant ethical refill shop with great produce.
UMBHOST LIMITED
They have an eco-friendly initiative, where each website hosted contributes to the plantation of a tree. I have not dealt with a hosting provider who offers this before and it is a fantastic initiative.

They support so many people in the community with shopping and driving them to appointments. Selfless team and a true pillar of the community.
PETERSFIELD'S SHINE RADIO
The team of volunteers work tirelessly to bring the best of local news and events in addition to daily news, weather and traffic updates. Their interviews with local personalities and inspirational people just seem to get better and better. A fabulous resource!

ANGEL STANTON
Angel was told at a young age that she may never walk again due to really bad hypermobility. But she she made it out of her wheelchair and has gone on to achieve her red stripe martial arts belt. She helps other disabled children at clubs become super stars, like her!
BERTIE COX
8 year old Bertie decided to make a difference when the war in Ukraine broke out. He hand drew and designed comic books to sell in order to help raise funds for a trip which his Mum had volunteered to do, driving essential medial aid to the Ukrainian border.
ELLIOT CHISHOLM
Elliot cycled from Petersfield to Paris raising £12k for the hospital who saved him as a baby. He's an amazing young man wanting to give back to the hospital who have supported him and his family. An wonderful example to us all.
ESME PEARCE GLYNN, EVIE SCOTT-WALSHA, & MATILDA BURATTIN-TAY
They hosted a day to raise awareness of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. All the children came into school in non-uniform and there was a cake and personalised bookmarks stall to raise money.

ARCHIE WHITE
Archie started racing go karts at the beginning of this year and has come 3rd in his first ever winter championship.
LUCAS BLAKE
Lucas has worked incredibly hard to get accepted into Portsmouth FC Academy and is doing amazing with his running. He recently broke the TPS 200m record that has stood since 1991!
PETERSFIELD TOWN FC
Petersfield Town Football Club's female section is growing rapidly and last season the U11 girls team went the entire season undefeated! The 30 player squad shows how much girls football is growing in town and the positive, fun environment that the management team have created.
SOUTH DOWNS TAEKWONDO
Passionate and hard working team with a mix of children and adults who are trained by truly amazing instructors. They have a few International Champions and one World Champion.

PAUL CROUCH (PD CROUCH PLUMBING & HEATING)
When plumbers have a reputation for being overpriced and unreliable, Paul is a breath of fresh air. We recommend him totally and he definitely deserves an award for his hard work!
NOEL FURSE (FURSE ELECTRICAL SERVICES)
Noel is amazing. Only a phone call away and very reasonably priced. I have recommended him to lots of people and everyone says the same; reliable, reasonable and such a lovely guy.
DOUG MEW (DJ MEW ROOFING LTD)
Doug is such a pleasure to work with. He turns up when he says he will and his work is exceptional, we are so glad we chose him to repair our roof.
ANDREW REED (ANDIDECS)
Highly skilled decorator who is the best wallpaper hanger around. He is meticulous in his work from start to finish. Goes above and beyond to get projects finished on time often putting in 16+ hour days.

CAROLINE MATTHEWS
Caz Matthews is a credit to the school. She is amazing with kids and is an all round incredible human being. She always puts the kids and their education above everything else. An inspiration to all.
JONATHAN LEY
Jonathan makes the subject he teaches enjoyable which helps students learn more easily. He's funny and easy to get on with. He checks on all his students throughout lessons, so every student feels included.
NAOMI DODD
Mrs Dodd is a hard working LSA at Liss Junior School. She is so caring and has a great relationship with all the children. She always gives 100% and makes every child feel special. She is truly one in a million.
PHILLIPA GARFORTH
She is one of the best teachers my daughter has ever had. She is so enthusiastic, bubbly, kind and nurturing. All of the children adore her!

Fabulous staff, great customer service and always an incredible hair cut.
SALON 16
Amazing group of talented individuals who make a brilliant team and offer outstanding services.
THE CANOPY
This is an ethical hairdresser, the owner is Daniel is passionate about the environmental impact the salon has. I have always received amazing customer service and amazing hairstyles.
THE DANDY CAT
These guys are absolutely amazing. Great barbers to listen to what you want and go above and beyond to provide that service. They are friendly, polite and super helpful. They may be small but they provide everything a larger salon does.

AUCTION HOUSE
Wonderful selections of cocktails and drinks in a vibrant fun environment. The staff are very welcoming and attentive.
THE SQUARE BREWERY
They are so supportive of local live music. After Covid, this is a huge boost to all local artists. They have great beer, a great range of gin and always have smiles on their faces.
THE QUEEN'S HEAD
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food and plenty of drink options. Perfect garden for families to hang out.
THE TOWNHOUSE
Best and widest selection of drinks in the whole of Petersfield with a constantly changing selection. The staff are always happy to help and serve with a smile.

BLACK CHERRY JAM
Originally came together as group of parents from Steep school to help raise money for the parents association. They are a local band who have gone from strength to strength, and are now a popular crowd pleasing group.
PETERSFIELD MUSEUM
Amazing selection of recent art exhibitions bringing fantastic art to our little town. Exciting events for all age groups and fantastic friendly café.
PETERSFIELD THEATRE GROUP
PTG continue to honour their commitment to be a truly inclusive group. They make performing and contributing backstage accessible to their disabled members helping them feel welcome and valued.
STRANGE FRUIT JAZZ CLUB
Providing a unique and compelling alternative music experience that Petersfield has never had before,. It has also brought people in from further afield and improved business in Petersfield.

They always go above and beyond. If you’re having a bad day they will make sure you don’t leave until you’re feeling better. A place to feel at home and always welcome with your children.
MEG'S KITCHEN
Not only does she provide some of the nicest and most delicious goods I've ever had, but Meg cares a great deal about each and every customer. She will do her absolute best to ensure everyone is catered for, whether its allergies or a random request!

Since staying open to help with my mother's Orders of Service in lockdown, I will go nowhere else.
SEW CREATIVE
All the staff are friendly and make you feel you are one of the team. They remember you, even if it is a while since you last visited and are always happy to help with solving any sewing or crafting problem!

Brilliant service, lovely selection of books, great social media profile - we love their little videos for book recommendations! Also nice café.
